These are special screws determined entirely for steel constructions. Compared to the classical hexagonal screws, they have a head larger by one degree. The length of the screw thread enables the screw body to go through the connected material with the beginning of the thread always outside the connected material. Below the screw head, there is a transitional radius for eliminating the notch brittleness.
DIN 6914-6918 „PEINER"
This screw is produced in the strength class of 10.9. All produced screw series are tested and recorded. Each of the screws has a production series number on its head. The surfacing must be of hot zinc, or there is no surfacing at all. These screws are supplied along with DIN 6915 nut. The nut is equipped with special grease to retain the tightening moment.
The screw cannot be further greased! It is impossible to combine a screw and a nut of two different producers. They are always to be used with two washers of DIN 6916, possibly with an auxiliary oblique washer of DIN 6917 or DIN 6918. It is produced in various lengths with 5 mm grades.
The screws are used in three main categories of connections.
A - SL connections „Scher-Lochleibung"
The strength is transferred with no planned bias through the cut action in smooth part of the screw shank and through the effect of internal surface of the hole between the screw shank and the hole wall.
B – non-slip connection in a marginal state of use suitability (pre-tensed)
C – non-slip connection in a marginal state of bearing capacity (pre-tensed)
The power is transferred through friction effect in the area of useful loading and through cut power action to the screw shank in the area of bearing. Compared to the „A“ connection, the „B“ and „C“ connections feature top tension only in a weakened form. Tightening of the screws is carried out through a twisting moment in accordance with the producer’s regulations by a torque wrench or by tightening the nut and subsequent angular rotation of the nut by a prescribed angle.
